2026 BC Assessments Are Out — What It Means in Port Alberni & the Alberni Valley
BC Assessment has officially released the 2026 assessed values for properties across Vancouver Island — including Port Alberni and the Alberni Valley. These assessments reflect an estimated market value as of July 1, 2025, and the property’s condition as of October 31, 2025, so they don’t always match what a home could sell for in today’s market.
A big takeaway from BC Assessment for Vancouver Island is that the market has generally been stable, and most homeowners can expect minimal changes in the range of about -5% to +5%, depending on property type and location.
It’s also important to know that a change in your assessment does not automatically mean your property taxes will go up or down. Taxes are based on how your home’s value changed relative to other properties in your community, not just the number on your notice.
