REAL BROKER AQUIRES RE/MAX

Real, my real estate brokerage, announced it has entered into an agreement to acquire RE/MAX Holdings. When the transaction closes, it will create Real REMAX Group, a leading technology-enabled global real estate platform. The combined company will be a more innovative, more productive and more connected real estate ecosystem that will generate substantial long-term value for our clients.

On a day-to-day basis, nothing is changing. Today’s news does not impact how we work together. My commitment to you remains exactly the same, and I am still your primary point of contact. I’m very excited about joining forces with such an iconic real estate brand and will fill you in on all the capabilities we will
have as a combined company in due time. Once the transaction closes (currently expected in the second half of 2026), I will be backed by a stronger real estate ecosystem that will help improve the client
experience.

I look forward to sharing more when the transaction closes.

Why Lifestyle is a Big Reason Buyers Are Choosing Port Alberni

When people start thinking about buying a home, the first questions are
often about price, size, or location. But in many cases, the real decision
comes down to lifestyle.

That’s one of the reasons Port Alberni and the
Alberni Valley continue to attract buyers from across Vancouver Island and
beyond. The area offers a balance that many people are searching for — affordability, outdoor access, and a strong sense
of community.

Living in the Alberni Valley means nature is
never far away. With Sproat Lake, the Alberni Inlet, local rivers, and an
extensive network of trails, outdoor recreation is part of everyday life here.
Boating, fishing, hiking, and exploring the outdoors are activities residents
can enjoy year-round without having to travel far.

Beyond the natural surroundings, Port Alberni
also offers the benefits of a connected community. Local schools, recreation
centres, small businesses, and restaurants create an environment where people
feel welcome and involved. Many residents appreciate the slower pace and the
ability to truly feel part of their neighbourhood.

For families, the Alberni Valley offers space
to grow and a supportive community environment. For remote workers and
lifestyle buyers, it provides an appealing option where quality of life and affordability still go hand
in hand
.

While the lifestyle here feels relaxed, Port
Alberni is also conveniently located within driving distance of larger centres
like Nanaimo and Victoria, making it possible to enjoy small-town living while
still having access to city amenities when needed.

As more buyers discover what the Alberni
Valley has to offer, understanding the lifestyle and market trends here becomes
increasingly important when buying or selling a home.

If you’re thinking about making a move, or
simply curious about what your home might be worth in today’s market, I’d be
happy to help.

2026 BC Assessments Are Out!

2026 BC Assessments Are Out — What It Means in Port Alberni & the Alberni Valley

BC Assessment has officially released the 2026 assessed values for properties across Vancouver Island — including Port Alberni and the Alberni Valley. These assessments reflect an estimated market value as of July 1, 2025, and the property’s condition as of October 31, 2025, so they don’t always match what a home could sell for in today’s market.

A big takeaway from BC Assessment for Vancouver Island is that the market has generally been stable, and most homeowners can expect minimal changes in the range of about -5% to +5%, depending on property type and location.

It’s also important to know that a change in your assessment does not automatically mean your property taxes will go up or down. Taxes are based on how your home’s value changed relative to other properties in your community, not just the number on your notice.

If you’d like to know what your home is actually worth in today’s Port Alberni / Alberni Valley market, feel free to reach out. I’m happy to provide a no-obligation market evaluation and show you what comparable properties are selling for right now.
